If you have ever been to new York city and been amazed at the constant hustle bustle, you would be entirely flabbergasted in Hong Kong. The city is constantly moving. The nine million residents always seem to be going somewhere. I went to Hong Kong for two weeks in the summer of 2007 and enjoyed every minute of it. It took me a little while to get acclimated to the busy surroundings. I’m from the west coast of the US and there is really nothing that busy here. The heat and the humidity were another factor I was not used to. I would constantly get warm because of the hot damp air. Eventually I started to wear lighter airier clothing that I purchased there. My favorite aspect of the city was probably its sky line, there are so many amazing buildings. The HSBC building is world renowned for its amazing architecture as well as many other buildings down town. As you walk downtown and look at the all the business people from all over the world you get a feeling that the city really does live for capitalism. I loved to walk downtown and look at the shops and the street stores. There are all manner of store in Hong Kong from the expensive to the dirt cheap. It’s pretty easy to find whatever you are looking for. Everywhere I ate was good, save for some dim sum at the amusement park. The Thai food was my favorite followed the Chinese food. The classic restaurants with duck and fresh sea food where amazing. I also had excellent sea food on Llama Island. It was a quick 20 min boat ride from HK. Lan Kwai Fung (lan ki fung) was a excellent hang out for the nights. On the weekends the bar district here gets crowded with all sorts of people winding down from a long week’s worth of work. From HK I also went to Macau. While Macau was very expensive and a little too Vegas for me, i did think the Portuguese side of the city was neat. Check out my pictures for some cool old buildings. I would not go here for more than a night unless you have a ton of money to spend in the casinos. Overall HK was an amazing trip that I would do again.
