Seattle This city would be amazing if it was 20 degrees warming and 40% sunnier. It's very similar to San Francisco. My favorite activities while there are pikes place, Alki, Madison Park, the ave, and downtown. Pikes Place is always entertaining. I love the produce, and the fish. I have almost never bought sea food down there because it is sooo expensive. I would rather go to Safeway or better yet Costco and get my fish to ship home from there. When at pikes place you can cruise by the very first Starbucks. It is a small very busy store that looks at the market. If you in the mood for some food, I would get brunch or dinner at Etta's. I always go there Sunday hevos rancheros. Finally, there is a amazing place for hom bow and pot stickers. It looks at the market near the south side. Alki is a magical place, it always feels so removed from Seattle yet it is only 10 minutes from downtown. The beach itself isn't too much to look at, but the area is great. There are tide pools to look at if you continue west. I always get a bowl of chowder out there. Madison Park, is a neighborhood just east of Seattle. It was originally a place for summer homes for wealthy Seattlites. I really like to go to the Mexican place cactus. In the summer I will visit the beach, it is essential to bring a six pack of pyramid (the local brew). The vibe is laid back and relaxed. There are kids smoking pot and families playing in the surf. If you get adventurous you can swim out to a floating platform and use the high drive. The Ave (university avenue), famous in Seattle lore as the home of the Hip hop group Blue scholars. The ave is the main street near the University of Washington. There are a variety of restaurants and bars. Nothing in particular, just the bastillian of higher education in the most educated stae in the nation. "Fuck class, get your education on the ave" Blue scholars. Downtown, is diverse and small. I know that is a dichotomy, but it is easy to walk downtown in 20 minutes. The diversity is hard to pinpoint but easy to notice, is evident in the variety of restaurants and the different languages spoken downtown. I would check out he SAM (Seattle art museum) and maybe the strip club next door. For food and bars I would head towards bell town, just a little north of downtown. I would bring some cash and try to check out a show. Seattle has a very vibrant music scene and often has legendary performers playing small clubs. Generally Seattle is great, forget what you've heard about grayness and rain, visit for a few days and just embrace everything the city offers. Oh and try to visit during bumbershoot, it's a annual labor day music festival that brings the best bands of today yesterday and tomorrow.
